Emma
Study Skills Tutor
Hello, my name is Emma! I am a fourth-year student studying Actuarial Science and Finance with minors in Business and Spanish. I was born and raised just outside of Chicago, but now reside in Bradenton, FL! In my free time, I love to cook and watch bad reality TV.
To be successful in your courses at FSU, I recommend finding a study method that works for you! I love having an online planner where I put aside blocks of time to “binge” study. But some people prefer a study method with breaks, such as the Pomodoro technique, or having a handwritten planner to organize their day. Finding what works for you is essential to reaching your academic goals!

Vicky
Study Skills Tutor
Hello! My name is Victoria, but please call me Vicky! I am majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience, with a potential dual degree in Biochemistry, and on the pre-medical track. My home town is Miami, Florida - hablo Espanól así que no dudes en venir a mí. In my free time I love to watch horror game YouTube videos, draw, read about medicine and fantasy, and run outside!
To be successful in your prospective courses, I believe you must learn what style of studying works best for you through trial and error. Attend group study sessions, attend tutoring reviews, study by yourself, and at the end of them all mentally quiz yourself on all you've retained. Through trial and error, I believe you'll find what works best for you. No matter how much time or mistakes it'll take, you will succeed!

Cacheline
Study Skills Tutor
Hey! My name is Cacheline but just call me Cash. I am a first-generation Haitian American from Orlando, Florida. Epi si ou pale kreyòl, m ap byen kontan ede w. I love canoeing and going to the beach. Unfortunately, I cannot swim, so I try my best to either stay in the canoe or on the sandy beach. I am a Senior and a double major in Public Health and Theatre. I am interested in pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant and as a Stage Manager. While pursuing my degree(s), I am a Study Skills Tutor at ACE and truly enjoy helping students navigate their journeys at FSU.
To be successful in your courses at FSU, I recommend planning your time and sticking to a routine. You should also know that it is okay if everything does not go as planned. Think of obstacles as an opportunity to learn and grow instead of a setback or an inconvenience. We are meant to overcome challenges, not be defeated by them. It is important to use the resources on campus. It might be intimidating to reach out for help, but these resources were created to help all students.

Sophia
Study Skills Tutor
Hi! My name is Sophia and I am from Naples, Florida. I am a Sophomore majoring in Criminology. Along with being an ACE tutor, I am also a member of the panhellenic sorority Kappa Alpha Theta. Some of my favorite things to do are go to the beach, read, listen to music, and hang out with friends! I love to help students gain the confidence to achieve their goals!
To be a successful student at FSU, I recommend going to class as often as you can and while in class make sure to be engaged and take notes. Along with going to class, don’t be afraid to go to office hours, join peer study groups, and take advantage of all the resources that FSU has to offer such as the Reading-Writing center and of course, ACE tutoring! My last tip is to study at least a week in advance. Giving yourself a week to prepare will allow you to have time to use FSU’s resources to best prepare yourself!

Delaney
Study Skills Tutor
Hi! My name is Delaney, and I am from Jupiter, Florida. I am a freshman majoring in Biology on a pre-medical track. I am a member of Pi Beta Phi and a University Honors Student! I love spending time at the beach, hanging out with friends, working, and spending time with family. I love making new friends, and I am passionate about helping others, especially other FSU students!
One of my tips for being a successful FSU student is to manage your time and prioritize your most important tasks properly! You can do this by using a calendar, planner, or making to-do lists. My personal favorite is Google Calendar. It's easy to use and allows you to visualize your daily schedule. Along with getting everything done, it's super important to make time for yourself, whether it be spending time with friends or having a self-care night. Mental health is just as important as school and extracurricular activities. Put yourself first!

Esteban
Study Skills Tutor
Hello! My name is Esteban Pinilla and I am a third-year Computational Biology major from Naples, Florida. Hablo Espanól así que no dudes en venir a mí. I love running, hiking, rock climbing, and animals. I even used to dog sit in high school.
The best way to learn & stay on top of your classes is to schedule your time efficiently & find study methods that work well for you. Everyone is different and will have different preferences. I am also a believer that there should be different approaches depending on the type of subject & the professor. It’s so important to be patient with yourself and to separate who you are from how you perform academically. FSU’s resources are here for all students, and it’s always ok to ask for help!
